CELEBRATING PANERAI’S NAUTICAL LINKS
Founded in 1860, Panerai watches are renowned all over the globe for their Italian design and technical excellence. Deigned to meet the military requirements of the Italian Royal Navy, the timepieces are known for their clear legibility and luminosity in the dark, as well as performance at extreme depths.
The 1940 Radiomir collection evolved from Royal Italian Navy requirements and specifications for their timepieces. A model was required that could remain underwater, even under the harshest of conditions.
Celebrating its links to the nautical world, in 2006, the brand acquired Eilean, a historic yacht. Once restoration was complete, they added this new addition to the Radiomir collection in its honour.
FIT FOR A NAVAL OFFICER
An ode to luxurious yet functional timekeeping, this Radiomir 45mm model is presented in a robust stainless steel case with a nostalgic, matte patina finish. The cushion-shaped case provides a delicate nod to the sleek lines of the yacht’s hull, while the boat’s name and launch date are engraved along the left-hand side.
Inspired by the yacht’s deck, the deep brown dial features a striped pattern, vintage-style hour and minute hands, and large Arabic numerals. The solid case back provides water resistance up to 10 bar (100 meters) and is engraved with ‘Eilean 1936’ alongside a nautical rope.
This timepiece is powered by a reliable P.6000 calibre movement, complete with Incabloc anti-shock protection and a 3-day power reserve.
A final nod to the Eilean is visible on the Scamosciato brown leather strap, where authentic lateral stitching emulates the stitching found on the yacht’s sails.
