Description
Exploring the dark side of the ocean, OMEGA has evolved its ceramic expertise to produce the Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black. This remarkable 45.5 mm timepiece is the combination of a GMT model and a diving watch. It is coloured totally black to represent the ocean at a depth of 300 m.The glossy and brushed casebody has been crafted from a single block of ceramic, the same material used for the unidirectional bezel and the dial with Arabic numerals.
A new GMT ring has also been fixed on the dial while the diving scale and OMEGA logo on the crown have been decorated with Liquidmetal. The hands are 18K white gold and are coated in white Super-LumiNova.In another first, OMEGA has created an oriented screw-in caseback so that the engraved wording sits pleasingly in position. This has been achieved through OMEGAs new and patented ceramic Naiad Lock.
Other features include an alveol pattern on the screw-in caseback and a black rubber strap with contrasting stitching and an anti-bacterial treatment on the lining. The Planet Ocean Deep Black is water-resistant to 60 bar and is driven by the OMEGA Master Chronometer calibre 8906. To achieve Master Chronometer status, it has passed the 8 rigorous tests set by METAS (The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology).
Calibre Omega 8906: :Self-winding movement with Co-Axial escapement. Certified Master Chronometer, approved by METAS, resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. GMT and time zone functions. Free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring, two barrels mounted in series, automatic winding in both directions. Special luxury finish with rhodium-plated rotor and bridges with Geneva waves in arabesque.
FEATURES:
24 Hours GMT:A GMT function means that the watch has a second hour hand which completes one full rotation in 24 hours and a 24-hour index on the dial. Particularly useful for wearers who wish to track two time zones.
Anti-Magnetic:The movement is unaffected by exposure to strong magnetic fields, even those greater than 1.5 tesla (15,000 gauss).
Automatic Watch:A self-winding watch orautomatic watchuses a mechanical movement whose main spring is wound automatically by the natural motion of the wearer’s arm.
Ceramic Watch:A casebody created from a single block of pressed ceramic, which is first heated in an oven and then three-dimensionally machined. OMEGA’sceramic watchcases are extremely scratch-resistant and shock-resistant.
Chronometer:Label given to a watch which has undergone precision tests and received a certificate from an official body (COSC).
Date:The day of the month, displayed in a window on a watch dial at the 3 or 6 oclock position, or within a subdial at 9 o’clock.
Helium Escape Valve:Decompression system which allows helium to escape from inside the watch when the watch is worn for professional use in pressure chambers. (Long-term underwater work, crude oil exploration, etc.)
Master Chronometer Certified:Guaranteeing the Swiss industrys highest standard of precision, performance and magnetic-resistance, as set by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
Screw-In Crown:Self-locking crown, screwed into the tube of the case, used for highly water resistant divers’ watches.
Transparent Case Back:A transparent case back – frequently made of sapphire – makes it possible to see the movement inside the watch.
Unidirectional Rotating Bezel: A bezel which turns in only one direction. Particularly useful for divers who cannot accidentally rotate it in the wrong direction, which could cause them to miscalculate their dive times. A rotating bezel makes it easy to measure elapsed time.
